There’s not much that I miss from home, but I’ve been itching to get back on the ski slopes for ages now. After being told about a cool hostel called The Ginger Monkey up in the High Tatras I left early Saturday morning (WAY too early) for Slovakia. Ski rentals were dirt cheap! For two days it was 22€ for skis, boots, poles, and goggles! I decided that my budget could probably handle two days of skiing, so the first day I went to a mountain about 10 minutes away called Bachledova. It is fairly small, but I couldn’t have been happier to just be out there, I had way too much fun to stop for lunch and definitely got my money’s worth out of the ski pass. The next day though I got to try out a larger mountain, Lomniča. It’s a bit farther away but it was worth it for the larger variety of runs.
Unsurprisingly, skiing in Slovakia has been one of the highlights of my trip, and it was hard to leave, but Bratislava is waiting.
